Azimio party is in disarray after claims have emerged that president William Ruto is poaching members of parliament from Luo Nyanza into his camp.

Earlier today President William Ruto with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua had a consultative meeting with elected ODM party members of parliament in statehouse Nairobi. It has emerged that the members of parliament attended the meeting without the consent of their party leader Raila Odinga.

According to President Ruto, the meeting was conducted as a way of fostering a good coexistence between the national government and leaders in ensuring each part of the country is well developed and also assist in confronting challenges facing Kenyans.

“Leaders must join hands, foster coexistence and work together in confronting the challenges facing our country. They must endeavor to lead by example and serve the interest of the people. This is a sure route to a more united and developed Kenya. At State House, Nairobi held a consultative meeting with MPs from Nyanza following a recent visit to the region.” Posted president Ruto on his Facebook page.

ODM party through their social media pages disassociated itself from the visit by the leaders, the party also slammed president Ruto on his attempt of dishing out handouts to its elected members of parliament. The party also asked their members to remain intact as they continue to fight for their ‘stolen victory’.

“We want to inform our members & supporters that our quest for the restoration of our stolen victory & provision of good leadership to Kenyans will not be deterred by carrot dangling & dishing of handouts to our elected leaders. The Movement is unstoppable. Let’s meet in Mavoko, Friday.” Read the party’s Twitter post.

Kisumu county governor James Orengo has also disassociated from the visit by the Luo Nyanza MP to the statehouse slamming the members of parliament for putting their interests first and despising the ODM party organs.

“We disassociate ourselves with a visit to State House, Nairobi by a group of ODM MPs. The visit by the MPs was personal and not sanctioned by any of our official ODM party organs.” Oregon posted on his Facebook page.

The leaders who attended the Statehouse meeting have not yet come out to defend themselves on the matters raised by the party against them.
