Jubilee MPs led by Sabina Chege and the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Hon. Kanini Kega, with other MPs from the party supporting the Kenya Kwanza government, are planning to kick out their top party leaders.

The targeted leaders are deputy party leader David Murathe and former Ndaragwa MP Hon. Jeremiah Kioni, who is the party secretary general.

This comes after Jubilee elected MPs had a meeting with Rigathi Gachagua on 20th January at Harambee Annex and also meeting with President Ruto at the statehouse.

Former Murang’a women representative and nominated MP Hon Sabina Chege and East Africa Legislative Assembly nominated MP Hon. Kanini Kega, the leaders in meeting other elected leaders for the meeting. Other leaders present were Other MPs at the meeting were David Kiaraho (Ol Kalou), Irene Njoki (Bahati), Zachary Kwenya (Kinangop), Shadrack Mwiti (Imenti South), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Amos Mwago (Starehe), Dan Karitho (Igembe Central), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West) and Joseph Githuku (Lamu).

The scheme comes a few days after Kioni claimed that the 2022 general elections were rigged through the help of the former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati. He claimed that Raila had won the elections with a vote count of 8,170, 355, which translates to 57% of the vote count, while Ruto garnered 5, 935, 973 votes, 41.66% of the casted votes.

Mr. Kioni told the media on Saturday that he was aware of the scheme to kick him and David Murathe out of the party because they are seen as critical to the government. He added that they couldn’t make changes without convening the National Delegates Convention (NDC).

“Kenya Kwanza government is unhappy after we exposed how they rigged the 2022 general elections. They have realized I have become an important person in Azimio; that’s why they’re plotting to kick me out,” The former Ndaragwa MP said.

The former Ndaragwa MP further claimed that the MPs behind the plot had no genuine reasons for supporting Azimio, but were serving their interests.
