Earlier today, it was confirmed that former Education Cabinet secretary Professor George Omore Magoha has passed on due to a cardiac arrest by his family. The professor died while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
Magoha was born in 1952 in Luo Nyanza district; he started his early education at DR Livingstone primary school. He later attended Starehe Boys center when he did his O- levels. He then joined Strathmore School for his A-level education, where he graduated with a High School Diploma.

Professor George Magoha later joined Lagos University in Nigeria to study human medicine after getting a scholarship, and he also trained in Ghana, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

The professor of medicine worked at the University of Nairobi for 15 years, where he served as the Vice-Chancellor. Magoha got married to Dr. Barbara Odudu Magoha, who is a medical practitioner and also a consultant at Kenyatta National Hospital as an Obstetrician and a gynecologist. At one point, Magoha revealed that he got his wife while studying in Nigeria.
Magoha and his wife, Odudu Barbara, were blessed with one son Dr. Michael Augustus Achianja Magoha, a lecturer in Neurosurgery at the University of Nairobi at the Department of Surgery.

Leading the nation in mourning, the late Cabinet Secretary Azimio party leader Raila Odinga has mourned him as a transformational leader and a medical doctor who has left an indelible mark on the country’s education system.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. George Magoha, a transformational leader, illustrious scholar, dedicated public servant, and distinguished medical doctor who left an indelible mark on our country’s education system. We will remember him for his incredible intellect, wit, and ability to inspire and challenge us to do our best. My condolences go out to his family and colleagues. May he Rest In Eternal Peace.” Raila wrote on his Facebook page.

Also, President Ruto has mourned Professor Magoha as a leader who served the country as a committed public servant with uncompromised integrity.
