Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu recently released the 2022 Kenya Certificate Of Secondary Education examinations. From the results released 173, 345 students got the minimum grade entry for university.

Kisii and Nyamira county schools have posted excellent results, with the best school being Nyambaria Boys High School from Nyamira county, which posted a mean of 10.8975 with a 100% transition to university; Cardinal Otunga boys high school closely followed with a mean score of 10.76 with also a 100% students transition to university.

Among the top performing students is 25-year-old Kevin Ontita, who sat his KCSE exams at St. Paul’s Igonga Secondary school, located in Suneka near Kisii town Bonchari constituency in Kisii county.

Kevin, the firstborn in a family of 8, is a practical example of what dreams can do; Kevin sat for his first KCSE exams in 2016 and scored a B- (minus), where he later joined Kenyatta University.

While at Kenyatta University, Kevin was expelled from the institution with other students and turned into a casual worker on construction sites till 2018, when a good Samaritan offered to sponsor him back to form one.

Kevin who was sponsored by a Catholic priest through his education sat for his 2022 KCSE examinations, scoring an A plain of 82 points, and he is among the top candidates from Igonga secondary school.

While being interviewed at the school premises, Kevin thanked his teachers and his sponsor for the support they had given him all through; he also highlighted that it was discipline and hard work that made him score such a grade. Kevin hopes to join the University Of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and is asking for well-wishers to help him achieve his dreams.

“I want to thank the almighty God for seeing me through the journey; it hasn’t been easy, but through the support of our teachers, we made it. I want to ask those students who are still in school to be always disciplined as this is the number one thing to success.” Said Kevin while being interviewed by TV 47.

The parents of the school also congratulated the students for pulling such excellent results and thanked the school’s administration for their job well done.
