Renowned City lawyer Donald Kipkorir has revealed that he shed tears in court today after his client, who is accused of fraud, was acquitted today.

Kipkorir noted that he had stopped working on criminal cases many years since most of his accused clients were ungrateful after acquittal; he also points out that criminal cases take a century to end. He adds that he usually takes up criminal cases if they involve his friends or a righteous cause.

The City lawyer took to his Facebook page to highlight a case of Edwin C.O.O of Nigerian-English origin, who was introduced to him by his friend and charged in Kibera Law Courts for alleged fraud.

Edwin C.O.O. was arrested in 2020; his wife, who was in England was pregnant with their child at the time of his arrest. As part of the bail terms, the court ordered him to deposit his English passport in court, and his son was born while he was away.

Kipkorir notes that today Hon. Derrick Kuto acquitted Mr. Edwin, terming the 2020 charges null and void. He recalls how he became emotional and shed tears when the magistrate started reading the judgement and demolished the prosecution case.

After acquittal, his client called his mother, who lives in London, and informed her of the decision; Kipkorir reveals the woman prayed the most extended prayer for him over the phone that no one has ever done to him, and tho made him shed tears again.

“…As the Trial Magistrate read the judgment and methodically demolished the Prosecution case, I was overwhelmed with emotion knowing that my client hadn’t been able to see his son since he was born in 2021. I shed a tear. ” read part of his post.

The woman also promised to fly to Kenya to bless the City lawyer for the excellent work he did against his son’s case. Kipkorir said this moved him since he had never received such love since he started his career as a lawyer in the country.
